Stereotactic Radiosurgery

It is a radiotherapy technique that enables the death of tumor cells or shrinkage of the tumor by giving high radiation energy to this point at a time in small volume tumors. Stereotaxy means determining a target with the help of three-dimensional coordinates. This method of treatment, which is given a full dose at a time using stereotaxy, is called Stereotactic Radio Surgery (SRC). Following the determination of the three-dimensional coordinates in SRC, the tumor is destroyed in a single session with high doses of radiation. In this method, normal tissues around the tumor are protected from the harmful effects of radiation. The implementation of IGRT during this process is important in terms of the actual destruction of the target.
