Radiotherapy is the Treatment of cancerous tissues, rarely benign tumors, with radiation. The branch in which radiation is used in tumor treatment is called "Radiation Oncology", and the physician who applies it is called "Radiation Oncology Specialist".

Radiotherapy is also called "radiation therapy" among people. While the rays used in radiotherapy are given to your tumor, your normal tissues are carefully protected. The radiation stops the growth or kills the cancer cells in the treated area. Radiotherapy is a very common application in cancer treatment, and approximately 60-80 percent of cancer patients may require radiotherapy.
